Australian Submarine Corp - Business Design
Calm Consulting team members provided strategic advice to one Australia’s largest manufactures the Australian Submarine Corporation (ASC) a company with an annual turnover exceeding $1B.
A change in the Federal Ship Building Strategy required ASC to understand the potential significant impacts this would have on its business model and operations as it shifted its primary facilities from South Australia to Western Australia. ASC needed to understand the change impacts on its current workforce of 3,000 peope, the servicing of exisiting contracts and the operational costs of building new facilities.
Ford delivered a detailed evaluation of the commercial implications covering future company capabilities, workforce impacts, workforce transition, capital expenditure required to implement the change and forecasted future operational expenditure.
YMCA Australia - Creation of a National Service Line for the Early Learning Function
The Calm Consulting team supported the national body of YMCA Australia in an analysis and feasibility evaluation of amalgamating the early learning function across all 12 associations to create a national service line.
The YMCA wanted to undertake a detailed investigation on the possible synergies and business model alternatives that could be achieved by creating a national service line in their targeted growth industry.
Leading a blended team Ford liaised with all the association CEOs, functional leaders, funders and stakeholders to build and execute a detailed evaluation. In the work, Ford identified possible business model alternatives each respective Board could use for decision making.
Global Citizen Strategy
Ford led development of the Asia-Pacific Growth Strategy for Global Citizen, an international For-Purpose organisation. Ford and the team collaborated with Global Citizen's US and Australian teams to define their strategic vision, confirm the organisation’s product differentiators via a market comparison, and provide clear recommendations for growth.
The team also undertook an organisation-wide business maturity gaps analysis to identify areas for uplift and produced a prioritised implementation roadmap to assist the business to execute the improvements.
